Recently, the Civil Aviation Administration of China officially approved the naming of Xiamen's new airport as "Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport." Located at the southeastern tip of Dadeng Island, the airport project involves a total investment of 55.574 billion yuan and covers a core area of 20.16 square kilometers. The airport's master plan features a basic layout of "one main terminal zone, two approach routes, three terminal buildings, and four runways." The project will be constructed in three phases, with the airport expected to become operational by 2026.
